MVHR
Fresh air without the heat loss
Mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) quietly takes stale, damp air out of kitchens and bathrooms and brings fresh, filtered air into living rooms and bedrooms. On the way, it passes the warmth from the outgoing air to the incoming air, so you keep most of the heat you've paid for.
It's ideal for new builds, barn conversions and deep retrofits where the building has been made airtight — keeping the air healthy and condensation at bay — and it works hand in hand with a heat pump.
Air-to-air heat pumps
Heating in winter, cooling in summer
An air-to-air heat pump (often called split air conditioning) heats a room directly with warm air, and can cool it in summer. It's a quick, efficient way to heat a room, an extension, a studio or a small property without wet radiators.
We're F-Gas registered, so we can install and commission split systems and larger units ourselves.
Homes can get £2,500 off an air-to-air heat pump through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, if the property meets the scheme's rules. Costs & grants →
Heat pump servicing
Keep it running as designed
A heat pump needs very little looking after, but Mitsubishi Electric asks for an Ecodan to be serviced every year, with each service recorded in the system's Benchmark log book. Skipping it can affect the manufacturer's warranty, and a yearly check keeps the system efficient and catches small problems early.
An annual service includes:
- Outdoor unit — clear leaves and debris from the grille, fins and air inlet; check the condensate drain; check pipework, insulation and electrical connections; record the operating voltage.
- Indoor unit and heating system — clean the strainer/filter; check the system pressure and expansion vessel; top up antifreeze or inhibitor if needed; bleed air from the system.
- Hot water cylinder — test the pressure and temperature relief valves and check the discharge pipework is clear.
- Electrics and controls — check cables and the supply fuse; check the settings against Mitsubishi's recommendations; change thermostat batteries if needed.
- Performance check — look over the running data and tell you if anything could be set up better.
Annual service: £220, including VAT and up to two hours on site. If a system needs longer, extra time is £68 an hour — we'll always tell you before we carry on.

Plumbing & bathrooms
Our own plumber, not a subcontractor
Dave, our plumber, has been with us since 2019. As well as the pipework on every heat pump job, he takes on bathrooms, kitchens, cloakrooms and general household plumbing.
We don't do gas work or boiler repairs — for those you need a Gas Safe registered engineer.
