This ground mounted PV system is located in Eglwysfach, near Machynlleth, West Wales.  It has a peak output of 3.8kW and is estimated to provide a financial return of 11.8% per year.

The landowner, Paul, is surrounded by mountains that cast a shadow over his house during Winter.  The challenge was to find a good shade free place to mount the PV.  Working closely with Paul we decided on a ground mounted array about 150m from the house.  This reduced the impact from the shade cast by the mountains as much as possible.

In addition Paul grazes sheep in the same field so the panels had to be mounted high enough to avoid any possibility of the sheep chewing the solar PV cables.  We submitted a successful planning application on Paul’s behalf and provided a full, turn key, high quality installation.

As soon as the solar PV array was installed the sheep began using it for shelter.  They can often be seen under the array during wet and sunny weather.

It’s a win win win installation.  Paul is enjoying lower energy bills and an excellent return on his investment, the sheep have a new shelter and the planet is enjoying less carbon emissions.
